Manufacturers and suppliers are responsible to offer and supply equipment that complies with European and national laws.
The installation instructions must be detailed and clear to ensure a safe installation.
Instructions for user must be provided in local language.
Maintenance and care instructions must include the life of the wearing parts and recommendations for timely replacement to ensure safe operation of the equipment.
The owner of an industrial or commercial building is responsible for ensuring safe operation of the doors in the building. The European Framework Directive on Safety and Health at Work 89/391 / EEC states that responsibility for the safety and health of employees is at responsibility of the employer. The workplace must be safe and any risks should be avoided by safety standards and procedures. This also applies to the Work and Work Equipment Directives (89/654 / EEC and 89/655 / EEC).
Product Standard EN13241-1. This European Standard specifies safety requirements and technical requirements for doors, barriers intended for installation in areas accessible to people and for which the main purpose is to give safe access for people and vehicles in industrial, commercial or residential areas.
Maintenance of the equipment must be carried out at least once a year for all manually operated or electrically operated industrial / commercial / garage doors. Once the product is installed, the owner of the building is responsible for the safe and secure operation of the equipment - this includes providing regular service carried by professional maintenance teams.
There is no existing European legislation on owners' responsibility to regularly service their equipment for their safety.
