In the beginning of 2019 ASSIST won a public procurement contract for the performance of an extremely prestigious and complex job - automation of old massive wooden doors at the Bulgarian Parliament. The challenge was to work in extremely short time and to install one of the most sophisticated and powerful BESAM ASSA ABLOY double-wing and single-leaf doors. The assignment included automatic system for the external double-leaf door as well as for some interior doors to sanitary facilities.
It is extremely important that this automation is preferred on the basis of the vast experience of the Swedish supplier of automatic doors Assa Abloy , specifically in the field of automation of doors for disabled people. Many old existing buildings do not always meet the requirements of local norms ans legislation for ACCESSIBLE ENVIRONMENT FOR POPULATION INCLUDING DISABLED PEOPLE.
That is why the technical and engineering challenge for ASSIST was to preserve the ancient wooden massive architectural gates while installing the automatic operators in the most elegant way so that the doors let a large flow of people and provide access for people with disabilities.
An interesting fact is that in 1960 our Swedish supplier BESAM ASSA ABLOY produced for the first time automation for a single-door access door for disabled people. To inaugurate the official production line of the first series of this automation, the Swedish King himself went through such an automated door and sat in a wheelchair.
